Why visit Dzanga-Sangha
Dzanga-Sangha is a special reserve in the southwest of the CAR, at the heart of the Sangha Trinational Forest — a UNESCO World Heritage Site shared between the CAR, Cameroon, and Congo. This is home to Dzanga Bai, a natural clearing where dozens of forest elephants gather daily — one of the most spectacular wildlife concentrations on the continent.
What awaits you
- Gorilla tracking — following semi-habituated Western lowland gorillas, guided by the Primate Project
- Dzanga Bai — observing forest elephants from the dedicated platform
- Meeting the Ba'aka — cultural immersion with the forest's hunter-gatherer communities
- Boating on the Sangha — the river that runs through the reserve
- Not to be confused with Chinko — the Chinko Reserve is a separate destination, at the opposite end of the country (southeast); see its dedicated page
